English is a top-3 business language, coming in right after French and Spanish. English-speaking agents are valuable as not everyone who takes a language course becomes good enough to qualify as a “native speaker.” HR Managers understand this value, and will go to many lengths in order to hire English-speaking individuals.

Business globalization has encouraged local companies to hire abroad, so languages don’t form as much of a barrier as they once did. The opportunity to be hired by a company from overseas is seen as an exciting new challenge that many people welcome.

English-speaking agents at Customer Service Hero

It is no secret that, in the world of business, the English language takes precedence. While the desire for bilingual skills grew, English remained as one of the most demanded.

So, why is it important to welcome English speakers aboard?

A recent survey by Swedish linguists showed that callers will trust an English-speaking agent in 88% of cases. The remaining 22% replied that they would prefer speaking English on the call, although it did not present a significant issue. Another private experiment by an unknown US journalist showed that people will typically pay no mind to an English accent as long as it is understandable.

I’m Josh White, the CEO of Customer Service Hero.
